Q: My Troop doesn't hold elections for the Order of the Arrow. How can I join?

A: Speak with the adult leaders in your Troop. Let them know of your interest in the Order of the Arrow. They will need to arrange to hold an election for all interested Scouts in your Troop that meet the requirements. Elections need to be held between January and March. Arrangements must be made to have your elections monitored by the Order of the Arrow Election Committee for your District. Check on our Officers page to find the name of the Committee Member for you.

Q: Doesn't the Order of the Arrow take Scouts away from our Troop and planned programming for the year?

A: This is an unfortunate misconception about both the purpose and goal of the OA. You should be excited to have your Scouts and Adult Leaders join the OA. Through the Order, your program will become stronger - not weaker. One of the main goals of the OA is to promote camping. Scouts who participate in OA Events return to their Troops with new ideas and a greater appreciation for Scouting and the outdoors.

Q: Is it true that the Order of the Arrow only exists to perform Service Projects?

A: A very big reason for the Order is to promote service to Camp and Community. But we are much more than a service organization. We may work hard, but we play harder!

Q: How can I get more involved? I've been in the Order for some time, and would like to help out.

A: GREAT! Japeechen Lodge is always on the hunt for enthustiastic help. There are always projects that could use a hand. Just attend a meeting and let someone there know you are interested in helping out with a committee or event. You can also use our Contact Us page to let us know of your interest in helping to make the Lodge a better place for everyone.
